The fine print, un-fined
The rules of the ChitPal club, written to be read — one real account per person, be kind to each other, and your words stay yours. No traps, no walls of legalese.
ChitPal is a friendly browser app for human language exchange. You chat with real people and an AI tutor, fix each other's grammar, swap voice notes, post Moments, and build vocabulary with word banks and lessons across 12 languages. The core app is free; an optional VIP pass adds extras. By using ChitPal you agree to these terms — we've kept them in plain language on purpose.
One account per person, and we like it that way: use your real self, a name you'd be happy to be called, and accurate profile details. You must be at least 13 years old to have an account. Keep your password to yourself — you're responsible for what happens on your account, and if you think someone got in, change your password and contact us right away.
ChitPal exists so people can learn from each other, so be kind. No harassment, hate speech, threats, spam, scams, or impersonating another person — real or invented. Don't post sexual content involving minors or use ChitPal for anything illegal, and don't try to sell people things they didn't ask about. Break the rules and we may remove content, restrict features, or remove your account (see below).
Messages, voice notes, Moments, photos, and corrections you create belong to you. To run ChitPal we need a limited license to store and display your content to the people it was meant for — your conversation partners, your Moments followers, and moderators handling reports. We don't sell your content or use it for advertising. Only post things you have the rights to share.
You can report any message, voice note, or Moment from inside the app, and moderators review reports. If content breaks these terms or the law, we may remove it, and we may warn, restrict, suspend, or remove accounts that seriously or repeatedly break the rules. If you think we got a decision wrong, contact us and we'll take another look — humans make the calls here, including the mistakes.
Premium is optional: a VIP pass costs $3.99 per 30 days, paid through PayPal. One pass = 30 days of premium access, starting when the payment completes. Passes are one-time purchases that never auto-renew — there is nothing to cancel and no surprise recurring charge. When your 30 days end, you're simply back on the free plan until you choose to buy another pass. The price is $3.99 per 30 days, full stop.
If a payment went wrong — a double charge, a pass that didn't activate, or something else that feels unfair — contact us and we'll work it out with you case by case. There's no automated refund button, and we won't pretend otherwise; a human reads every request. If PayPal refunds or reverses a payment, the related pass is deactivated.
ChitPal is provided “as is” and “as available.” We're a small, actively-built product: features change, things occasionally break, and there may be gaps while we fix them. We do our best, but to the fullest extent the law allows, ChitPal isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses from using the app, and we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
As ChitPal grows, these terms will grow with it. When we change them we'll update this page — the “last updated” date at the bottom shows the current version — and if a change is significant, we'll say so in the app. Continuing to use ChitPal after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you don't, you can permanently delete your account from Profile → Danger zone.
Questions, concerns, appeals, or anything in these terms you'd like in human words? Email samjo4500@gmail.com and a person will read it. For content problems, in-app reporting is usually the fastest route — it reaches moderators directly with the item in question.
